artdepot gallery is showing the latest works by thomas laubenberger-pletzer in the exhibition ‘zero fuck’, which consist exclusively of his ‘alphabet no 0’.
a few straight lines drawn on a din a4 sheet of paper is what you usually see in laubenberger-pletzer’s work as the ‘smallest unit’. it is often the starting point for serial works, installations and space-related projects.
with these extremely reduced means, he investigates everyday structures such as writing and (formal) language.
he creates ‘word pictures’ and ‘alphabetical constructions’ from alphabets specially developed by the artist from square or cubic lower-case letters on the border between abstract and legible signs.
