the first thing that catches the eye in thomas reinhold’s work is the abstract ballet of lines and spots created by pouring, which dominates the pictorial space in color gradations between pastel and strong hues, between hot and cold. but what might appear to be a continuation of jackson pollock’s drip paintings or hermann nitsch’s poured paintings is the result of an almost mathematical experimental arrangement: the directions in which the colors are poured are predetermined and adapted to the changing conditions during the process, whereby the multiple repetition of the process results in overlapping and palimpsest-like structures.

michael tolloy’s sculptures are hybrid creatures of a very special kind. on one hand they are committed to art historical tradition, on the other hand they formulate a tentative, yet purposeful, consistent approach to a contemporary image of man, in terms of content, form and technology in the use of traditional sculptural material.
