the artist and collector peter de kimpe (*1951) works as a designer/scenographer in germany and abroad. he was the founder and until 2017 artistic director of the scenography course at the academy for theatre and dance in amsterdam.
he works as an exhibition designer for the van gogh museum, the new gallery in new york – for which he designed the 20th anniversary retrospective in 2022 – and for several large museums in the netherlands.
his work moves between scenography, exhibition design and autonomous art. his own work consists of a collection of “objects trouvés”. since 2005, this has been a constantly growing collection of “accidentally” found objects archived in museums and subsequently photographed.
