michael spuller is a trained draftsman. he uses ms excel as the central work tool for his work as a business consultant and construction process specialist. today he uses it to draw.
in his series “mountain moments” he reduces a very simple motif such as e.g. rock, snow, sky without neglecting the complexity of the central structure. situations arise in a realistic, technically reduced, clean form.
by using the excel computer program, nature is given an aesthetic “cleaner”. the “files” are plotted on canvas, laminated on wood and framed in steel. Spuller’s works seem as if they were drawn with a pencil.
