Gabriela von Habsburg

gabriela von habsburg was born in luxembourg in 1956. she is a sculptor and art professor.

gabriela von habsburg mainly creates non-representational sculptures from stainless steel, but also lithographs using the original technique. she has several international exhibitions each year. since the 1990s, she has also been particularly active in eastern european countries.

my sculptures are not intended to be a representation of the visible world. they direct the thoughts and feelings of the viewer towards fundamental aspects of life.

through the deliberate use of tension and relaxation, through the alternation of harmony and disharmony, they show that – as in music – the juxtaposition of opposites makes the most important statement clearer.

they dominate the space, which goes beyond material representation and limitation. in this way, the spaces in between take on meaning.

the viewer’s eye carries the spatial concepts further, partly to limited spatial structures, partly to unlimited ones. in this way, the artwork only finds its completion through the viewer.
