gabriela von habsburg was born in luxembourg in 1956. she is a sculptor and art professor.
gabriela von habsburg mainly creates non-objective sculptures in stainless steel, but also lithographs in the original technique. she has several international exhibitions every year. since the 1990s she has also been particularly active in eastern european countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
my sculptures are not intended to be a depiction of the visible world. they direct the thoughts and feelings of the viewer to fundamental things in life.
through the deliberate use of tension and relaxation, through the alternation of harmony and disharmony, they show that – as in music – the juxtaposition of opposites makes the most important statement clearer.
they dominate the space, which goes beyond the material representation and delimitation. this is how the spaces in between acquire meaning.
the viewer’s eye takes the conception of space further, sometimes to limited spatial formations, sometimes to unlimited ones. thus the work of art only finds its completion through the viewer.
