beginning on september 14, the artdepot starts the exhibition “alive” by the austrian star photographer manfred baumann.

the exhibition features touching snapshots by the artist, who – in close cooperation with caritas and volkshilfe – has taken pictures of homeless persons for a photographic album. with the help of this project the focus is supposed to be placed on people at the margins of society. the proceeds of the sales go to charity.

about the project:

the look of a man’s or a woman’s face does not only change over time, but also with every stroke of fate. alive provides insights into the lives of people, which we would have been denied otherwise, and pulls them from the margins of society in the midst of the latter.

homeless persons live on the fringes of society and are often perceived either not at all or mostly negatively. alive offers a new perspective on people who are in need and require our help.

a text can be found next to each portrait, giving an overview of the individual’s personal history. likewise, one can find the name, if the respective person wants to have it published.

the concurrence of these components provides the spectator with a comprehensive image of a person deserving of our attention.
